The City of Cape Coral decided to use the most expensive methodology for building the U.E.P. because the city will not take the responsibility for the construction. It's costing the people here 2 to 5 times more for sewer & water than it should cost. The city refuses to step up to the plate and do what's right by the people. We are paying billions of dollars for something we don't need or want just so friends of the administration can make lots of money constructing future ghettos and water and sewage plants in residential neighborhoods destroying our quality of life and Real Estate values. Our officials will tell you they will hide the sewage plant being built in a residential neighborhood but you can't hide the stench or the 70 foot tank. Would you buy a home located near a sewage plant? Of course not, and neither will anyone else. So what comes next? A radioactive dump on the Zemel property. Our elected officials have no right to destroy our Real Estate values like this. High rise construction could not happen without the U.E.P. Is this why the U. E. P. is being shoved down our throats? That's a conclusion residents will have to make for themselves as they pay off their $28,000 bills and watch these projects rising above our community. If we wanted high rises we would have moved somewhere else. You can watch your property values diminish as the builders construct one of these big projects like Biscayne Cove, while the cities wrecking crew, the planning department merrily makes its way through Cape Coral destroying equity and quality of life. It doesn't matter to our city officials, they don't have to live next to it and you can bet your bottom dollar they would head it off long before it winds up in their back yard. The fact of the matter is, they get a bicycle path while we get a sewage plant. They only care about themselves and their developer buddies. This means we are paying top dollar to help facilitate the destruction of the value of our major asset, our home. We're shooting craps living in Cape Coral, the city is running the game and using loaded dice. We need to take the loaded dice and close the casino. We don't stand a chance unless we remove the management and put a halt to this insanity. JOHN SULLIVAN
